This beautiful Wing Platter will be a spectacular display piece on your table. It is food safe for fruits and candy. The size is 6 by 6 by 2 inches high. The exotic Cocobolo wood has incredible character and depth of color highlighted by the white wood trim.
The technique to fabricate a square wing platter is almost identical to making a round platter, except you have to be careful not to get you to hand hit by a square edge. A platter is essentially a shallow or flat bowl. A woodblock is spins on a wood lathe at a high speed and a sharp tool peels away layers of wood. Once the shape is complete more time is spent on finishing to make the piece come to life and have the tactile feel that makes it unique.
The final steps are sanding, buffing, polishing and applying a protective coating for a smooth finish. Correctly done all this will provide years of enjoyment.
I design all items in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA. When you purchase from AATurning you receive an original Alan Adler piece. I do not sell any third party items ever.

Care For Your Wood Products
This platter will require little maintenance. It is best to keep it out of direct sunlight. Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels. Do not wash with water. If necessary use a damp cloth and finally wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore luster. Beeswax, olive oil or mineral oil work fine.
