NIP Footed Vase
Out of stock
This is an extraordinary piece of wood from the Norfolk Island Pine tree. I shaped this vase with a small pedestal to give it lift. The Norfolk Island Pine tree is unique in that the branches grow concentrically and not randomly as most other trees. This NIP Footed Vase has several faces staring at us with 2 of the 7 red dots where the branches grew forming eyes. The wood has beautiful grain markings and rich earth tone colors. If you are an art collector this piece will look great in your collection. If you want to start your art collection this can be your first piece.
The translucent finish is achieved by soaking the vase in boiled linseed oil. This is a long and tedious process that can take several weeks. When held up to the light some of the edges will appear to be translucent. The wood actually takes on a tortoiseshell look. The size is 8-inch in diameter and 7 inches tall.
This NIP Footed Vase is perfect as a Display Piece or Key Holder or Jewelry Keeper. It is food-safe,

I was in an Art gallery in 2008 and on display was a Norfolk Island Bowl. It was by a well know woodturner. The cost was $3000. I was totally taken by it and even considered how I could pay for it. I decided for $3000 it could be possible with a few lessons to learn the craft and also purchase the equipment… and so here we are. Maybe you should buy it now before I become famous and raise the price.
