Zipper and Lace Platter
This is beautiful Zipper and Lace Platter featuring a zipper and suede lacing that wants to seal the cracks that developed after the platter was turned.  The style is Natural Edge. The definition of Natural Edge is a wood product with the bark left intact or the rough edge that remains if the bark is removed or falls off. The size is 18-inch diameter by 1 1/2 inches high.
I had to find a way to save the platter after the production cracks appeared.  It was too interesting a piece not to find a way to save the platter.  These unexpected events become Design Opportunities and my solution to save the Wood platter was to add a zipper and leather lace.  This will definitely be a conversation piece and will make a unique centerpiece in your home. Just picture this unique piece on your dining room table.  I  use zippers in other pieces and like to bring other elements into my work. Keep out of direct sunlight
Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
Do not wash with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
