Star Anise Pin
Star Anise Pin
Star Anise Pin features the Star shape Anise spices floating in resin. I love to take gifts from nature and use them in my art. Cinnamon is another spice that I use in making wood jewelry. The process is to pick the best shape Anise Star seed pods and cast them in blue epoxy resin. The block is then put on a wood lathe where I turn the casting into a cylinder that will fit the silver tone Brooch metal finding. Once the two pieces are together I dome the pin with clear epoxy which enhances the color and provides exceptional protection to the item.
Should be fun to have your friends guess what is in the Pin. I have yet to have someone identify the Anise Seed Pod. When I tell them that it is Anise they do get it, that is if they know what natural Anise looks like. I didn’t until I saw it in a spice store and purchased some, not for cooking, but for jewelry. I can’t cook to save myself, but I do make jewelry so I can eat.
The pin size is 1 1/4 inches in diameter. This much smaller than a brooch Madeleine Albright wears. Maybe if I send her one she will wear it.
Gift Idea
This is Perfect Chef Gift or someone who loves to cook or maybe eat. Maybe you know a Madeleine Albright type and need a birthday gift for her.
