Black Tuxedo Bud Vase
Black Tuxedo Bud Vase
Black Tuxedo Bud Vase features tons of character and the elegance of a well dressed night in the big city. Picture a Black Tie event with a dark charcoal suit with a hint of silver threads running through the fabric. This turned oak vase is ebonized with vinegar and steel wool which reacts with the tannins in the wood to create this deep rich black color. Then a white liming wax is applied which fills the wood pores. It is not often that a Maker finds wood with these gorgeous patterns. The style is a modified Hollow Form which means the opening at the top is smaller than the diameter of the vase. I actually hollowed this piece from the bottom and then plugged the opening. Pretty good... You can hardly tell.
A glass vial is fit into the neck to keep your flower cutting watered. The tube is 5 1/2 inches long with a 3/4 inch diameter. Can be used as a weed pot, a bud vase, flower cutting vase.
Dedicated tools and patience are necessary to create a Hollow Form Vase. This vase will be a beautiful centerpiece for your table or display shelf. The size is 1 1/4 inches at the top and about 4 inch diameter at the widest spot and 8 1/2 inches tall. Signed by the artist, Alan Adler, on the base.
