4 Piece Mini Bowl Stack
4 Piece Mini Bowl Stack is a sculptural experiment with Madrone wood.  Madrone Wood Bowl has a lot of tension in the cells and fibers, especially when the freshly cut the wood contains a lot of moisture.  As the wood dries it will warp and develop cracks.  When you view the end of any wood log you can see the splits and cracks emanating from the center of the log as the wood dries.
I understood that if I made thin bowls the wood would be able to warp and not crack.  If I would work the same log the wood should warp in the same direction.  So I set out to make 4 miniature bowls that would both nest and stack. Coming off the lathe the bowls are perfectly round.  As they dried they become an oval shape.  Success,  I was able to accomplish what I set out to do.  Have 4 bowls nest into each other or rotate them slightly and they would stack.

Keep out of direct sunlight
Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
Do not wash with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
