This is Tabi’s Adirondack Style Chair. When a grandchild turns two, I make a theme chair based on their interest. I think Tabitha is developing an interest in Arts and Crafts like her Mother and Grandfather. At least, I do know that she loves this chair. Looking forward to seeing Tabi develop her artistic expression. This is the fifth chair for the grandchildren. The objective is to create a chair that represents their current interest. Mai has a wonderful imagination and I built her a Fantasy Chair. Oliver is into tools and he has a tool chair. Jack loves cars and Charlotte is into music.
There is a lot of stress to develop Tabi’s Adirondack Style Chair or any other chair. Sometimes the child’s interest is not evolved until the last few months prior to the birthday. Each chair requires a great deal of planning and over a week to build. Both the parents and the kids look forward to the chair. All the chairs have prominent places in their rooms and are treasured gifts. Nothing better than that.
Gift Ideas
I do create lots of gift items in a variety of categories. These chairs are special for the grandchildren and I do not think I would accept a chair commission. However, there are plenty of other gift items available on this website. In addition, please take a look for something special in my Etsy shop.
Studio
I design all of the items in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA. My primary machine is the wood lathe. However, I will often spend more time doing secondary operations refining and finishing a product. Because I do not consider myself to be a production turner, the amount of time it takes to complete a job is not relevant. I enjoy the the process.
