Miro Inspired Bandsaw Box

Inspiration for Silent Auction Donation

Miro Inspired Bandsaw Box is a donation for a Silent Auction Fundraiser at the Center for Art in Wood. The annual fundraiser “Bandsaw Box Gala” supports the efforts of this non profit organization. Downstairs is the gallery which features several shows and events during the year. Also, this is where the museum store is located. Certainly a place to find unique and beautiful gifts. When you are in Philadelphia this is a place you must check out. Make certain you visit the upstairs museum for the best collection of Woodturning art in the world.

Miro and Barcelona Influence

I recently returned from a trip to Barcelona and a visit to the Joan Miro Foundation. This is also a must visit museum. Miro is most often thought of as a Surrealist. He began studying art art the age of seven. His parents wanted him to be in business which he rejected for art. He became famous rather quickly and influenced the trends in art during the 1930’s through the 1980’s. His paintings, prints and ceramics reflects fantasy. I love the whimsy of Miro’s art and use some elements of his design elements in this piece. The box features several different materials including wood, metal wire and color pencils. The process to complete this item includes using a bandsaw, wood lathe, carving and airbrushes.

Handmade Gift Ideas

The Center for Art in Wood represents my art in their museum store. If you like Miro Inspired Bandsaw Box then I encourage you to take a look at the wood art available by many excellent artists. If you are looking for a special gift take a look in my store.

My Studio and Workshop

I design all my items in my Montvale, New Jersey, USA studio. My primary machine is the wood lathe. I create the form at the lathe and do finishing at the workbench.
