Maple Ambrosia Wooden Bowl

This Maple Ambrosia Wooden Bowl features incredible markings from Ambrosia Beetle damage. This Salad Bowl is rich in color from the hardwood growth that occurs near the center of the tree. The white sapwood is new growth growing close to the bark. This bowl shows unique contrasting character features between hardwood and sapwood. This wood bowl features a wide concave rim. The brown streaks are made by the Ambrosia Beetle when they attack the tree.  As they eat their way through the tree brown marks are left behind. Notice the small black dots.  These are the entry and exit points.  Unfortunately this infestation will kill the tree.  The wood is highly sought after by wood artists and furniture makers.

Maple is a hardwood common in the Northeast. The colors in this piece are extraordinary.  The colors are rich and the wood turns beautifully. Handmade on a wood lathe this bowl features beautiful grain with tons of character. This bowl is a perfect centerpiece for your table. Picture a gorgeous bowl with apples and oranges on your kitchen table. My signature is on the base.
